Brown's Revolution Hall
Brown’s Revolution Hall, originally built in 1868, has housed a linen collar and cuff manufacturer, a wholesale grocer and a moving and storage company. After establishing Brown’s Brewing Company in 1993, Garry and Kelly Brown bought the adjacent building in 1996 and transformed the cavernous space into a concert venue. Rev Hall now hosts 75 weddings annually in addition to banquets, fundraisers and the annual remen’s chili cook-off. “Revolution Hall captures the spirit of Troy’s waterfront warehouse heritage with the taste of a European beer hall,” says Carrie Harkin, who has overseen special events for Brown’s since 2006. “People really appreciate the rustic-industrial atmosphere overlooking the river.”
Private parties kick off with drinks in the Revolution Hall lobby, dominated by a handsome bar crafted by Peter Albrecht, Troy’s master woodworker. A pergola on the deck adjacent to the beer garden provides incomparable views of the Hudson and the Collar City Bridge. Smaller parties can reserve the Malt Room on the ground level for cocktail receptions. at space has a rich, clubby atmosphere with brick and stone walls, a long copper bar, copper-shaded lamps, red leather couches and arm chairs. Specialty menus are available with flatbreads, charcuterie, small plates and cask-conditioned ales.
Harkin handles the logistics and oversees each event from start to finish. “We do all of our own cooking on-site, and we try to incorporate our beer into parts of the meal, such as sauces. I o er advice on area bakers, lodging, orists and photographers. People can choose their flight of beers from our repertoire. e couple can also make a special wed- ding batch with our brewers, so that’s a fun option. Brown’s can provide favors such as beer soap, bottle openers and glassware.”
Co-owner Kelly Brown sings Harkin’s praises. “After every event, we receive e-mails with effusive appreciation. Carrie always goes the extra mile and really helps couples create their dream event, staying within their budget. She’s so warm and gracious, perfectly suited to this role!”
